The Inspiration for Leo’s Iowa Naturals is a spectacularly handsome Great Pyrenees, American Staffordshire, and Border Collie mix.
Beloved by an ever-growing circle of family and friends, adored by two grown sisters and two brothers, while serving as the ever-present +1 of a Mom who can’t bear the thought of life without him, Leo’s ninth birthday set off an alarm. Typical longevity of 11 or 12 years was simply not unacceptable. Leo was in his prime and needed to stay that way for a good long time.
That at was the end for Leo of ultra heat processed kibble loaded with preservatives for long-term shelf stability plus all sorts of synthetic ingredients that ranged from iffy to truly toxic...
And the start of new journey toward hearty combinations of gently cooked organ and muscle meats, bone broth, eggs, fresh vegetables, legumes, turmeric, squash, nutritional yeast – everything that dogs need and nothing that they don’t.
Leo transitioned overnight from being not particularly food motivated to eagerly anticipating his meals, relishing every bite, and vigorously licking his bowl across the floor to ensure that every drop of goodness was captured.
